Local Issues

Fiscal Responsibility

Our county government should never have a deficit budget - never. Yet we are currently operating under exactly that. Deficit budgets either bleed away valuable reserves or create economic hardship for future generations. As a teacher, business owner, husband and parent, I must be fiscally responsible and so should St. Joe County. Let’s return to a focus on the core responsibilities of governance and a balanced budget.

Roads and Other Infrastructure

Basic infrastructure issues such as roads, bridges, leaf pickup and snow plowing affect each and every one of us on a daily basis and should be among the services that the county pridefully points to as well done. This is simply not the case here in St. Joe County. Many of our county roads are in disrepair. In neighborhood after neighborhood, the leaf pickup program has been undependable. Even snowplowing this year was less than reliable. As your representative, I put a strong emphasis on getting the basics right!

Defending Individual Liberty

Our belief in liberty from intrusive government is the foundational pillar of our republic. This is not a mantra only to be observed at the federal or state levels, but an overriding principle that should be applied to all decisions made by local government as well. Unfortunately, government now affects almost every aspect of our lives, a fact that became even more acute in the last two years. It is time to refocus our efforts, with all governmental decisions made through the lens of protecting individual liberty.

Supporting Police & Firefighters

Our police and fire fighters are among our community’s most valuable assets. Our county council should be one of the greatest advocates for these men and women who serve and protect all of us on a daily basis. I pledge to not only advance the best training and pay for our county police and fire fighters but to consistently speak in support of the great job they do for the citizens of St. Joe County.
